Tribal Translation A glossary of American tribal style moves Eight's EGYPTIAN TAKSIM- a normal horizontal 8 (going back) TAKSIM - an under vertical 8 MAYA - a vertical over 8 DOUBLE MAYA- A vertical 8 with a drop each side Circles 1/2 HIP CIRCLES- stand in position as for a drop, draw the circle on the side of your hip PESTLE - two normal horizontal hip circles, ending facing a diagonal then going back the other way Camels ARABIC - camel ARABIC HIP TWIST - one camel then twist the hip back STRUCTURAL ROLL - like a camel but using the top half only, don't let your bottom go with it. BELLY ROLLS - using the belly muscles only to create a rolling effect Hits and other hip moves GHAWAZEE - hits GHAWAZEE ACCENT - a hit but with legs further apart, and you step into the hit. EGYPTIAN BASIC - step hit up (hip goes up). HIP BUMPS - hip ups front and back (opposite of drops) CORKSCREW - hip travels up on a diagonal, ankle and knee swivel to achieve this. TUNISIAN - A swerve on tip toes. DOUBLE TUNISIAN - A swerve like move on one hip then the other, on tip toes while making a circular hand motion.
